TCM have undertaken Japanese knotweed eradication on a number of sites within Wigan’s Economic Development Zone…TCM have more recently been involved in a process of treatment over a longer period of time on the site which was deemed necessary for Japanese knotweed next to watercourses and also for eradication of Giant Hogweed. All chemicals used within the treatment processes, I have been informed, have been fully approved by DEFRA. This was a particular issue on Westwood Park with the proximity of The Site of Biological Interest, thus protecting existing flora and fauna.

All eradication work to-date has been undertaken successfully (as well as on time and to budget) and guarantees for these works issued were appropriate.

Company History

TCM was established in 2000 by Howard and Alison Downer to meet a growing demand for specialist weed control.

By combining knowledge they had acquired through their agricultural backgrounds with their interest in plants and the environment, ideas for more effective and more environmentally aware approaches to invasive weed control were soon implemented for customers: the company’s first project for Japanese knotweed control (on railway embankments in East Anglia) commenced in 2000.

Since 2000, the company has grown organically and by 2005 it was beginning to establish offices throughout the UK. During the time since then, the focus has been to build a team that is able to provide a wide range of integrated services on many different types of site throughout the UK and to establish our reputation as market leaders in consultancy and implementation of invasive weed projects.
