Learn about invasive weeds and the solutions for eradication that are available

Deadline imminent for 2010 Japanese knotweed eradication using TCM’s HIT® system

Time is running out to achieve warranty backed eradication of Japanese knotweed in 2010 using our range of herbicide treatments.   If you have a site containing knotweed, our HIT® programme needs to start by mid July to be certain of achieving success this year.

In-situ herbicidal treatment is much more cost effective than removing knotweed mechanically and is the only effective way to deal with the plant if it is growing close to hard structures, utility routes or water bodies, although in the latter case, it may be that a two year programme is necessary due to restrictions on types of herbicide that can be used beside water. In any case, a two year programme will need to commence imminently as well.

There are two significant benefits for those of you who are developing commercially: firstly by adopting an on site treatment you may be able to claim tax refunds to help compensate for the cost and secondly, if you have no immediate plans for development, the sooner a herbicide programme is implemented, the less the risk that the knotweed infestation will grow in size and spread to other areas of your site which will inevitably lead to an increase in cost of eradication.

If this approach is of interest to you, why not contact us to arrange a site visit with a member of our team so that a site and business specific Japanese knotweed eradication strategy can be developed with you that will meet your requirements.
